In trying to address the personal issues faced by individuals, social work practices need to take into account the perceptions such people hold about themselves compared to the normal expectations of the larger social structures. In doing so they are in a better position to understand the underlying causes of the disruptions occurring in the concerned individual's lives (Crawford & Walker, 2010)
