Sparta on the other hand produced warriors and the warrior-kind and is only really remembered because its strict, harsh and "Spartan" way of life, which did not entail many creature comforts of the sort that people in the modern era really like. Sparta also made more use of slaves and (ironically) their women appeared to have more say in the society than in Athens, where they were primarily kept at home (Fantham, Foley)
